Jon Batiste has announced a four-night residency in London.
The multi-Grammy and Academy Award-winning American artist will take the stage at KOKO on June 24, 25, 26 and 28 with four concept-driven performances for his inaugural Jon Batiste World Festival, co-curated with Michael Mwenso.
Each night will have a different theme. One will feature a full orchestra, another will include songs fan-picked songs from his entire discography, a third will focus on hopeful and uplifting songs with special guests, and the final performance will showcase, for the first time, a full band performance of his jazz score from Disney and Pixar's animated film Soul, which won him an Academy Award and a BAFTA. Batiste said:
"I’ve been coming to London since my early days as a teen touring pianist with Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson and Wynton Marsalis. Those were very formative times in my artistic development, as well as the start of many forever friendships. To now host a festival of music in the city at KOKO is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see all my London people, my British supporters, and people who will travel from all over the world for this epic moment! Many thanks to Olly, Nick, Mwenso, UTA, JBI and the team at KOKO for the great work on this inaugural JBWF."
Bastiste also has a mix of headline shows and festival appearances scheduled across the US, Asia and Europe throughout the spring and summer. Tickets for his new London dates go on general sale at 10am on Friday (March 6).
Last August, Batiste released his latest studio album, 'BIG MONEY', which in February earned him his eighth Grammy, winning Best Americana Album at the 68th annual Grammy Awards ceremony.
Since his last record he has put out the compilations 'The New Americana Collection' and 'The Nominated Collection'. He also teamed up with Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll to release a new live version of Lake's worship song Hard Fought Hallelujah, which the trio performed at the 56th annual GMA Dove Awards last October.
