The Smashing Pumpkins Announce The Rats In A Cage North American Tour For Fall

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced TheRats In a Cage Tour.
The North American trek will take place in the fall, kicking off on September 30 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio and wrapping up at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on November 12.
Each show on the run will feature two different sets, one celebrating the recent 30th anniversary of their album 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' and another featuring hits and deep cuts. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Thursday (May 21). Frontman Billy Corgan said:
"Staging a Mellon Collie-themed show is something we’ve discussed for over a decade, and finally the stars have aligned and exactly on the terms I’d set: which was to build a special night around its most enduring aspirations and ideas. With set 1 of the Rats In A Cage tour exclusively featuring Mellon Collie songs in a highly theatrical setting, and set 2 drawing from the rest of our canon so that there’s a decent amount of variance as to what songs we’ll play from night to night: from our first in ‘Gish’ to our last in ‘Aghori Mhori Mei’."
Prior to the tour, the Chicago alt-rock legends will headline Lollapalooza in their hometown in July. They'll also top the bill of Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach, California in November.
Corgan will also take A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness, his orchestral and operatic reimagining of the band's 1995 album, to select UK and European venues in early September. The shows will follow the same format as his seven-date run at the Lyric Opera in Chicago last November, with each concert reimagining 'Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness', including classic tracks Tonight, Tonight, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and 1979, with orchestral arrangements by Corgan and Grammy-nominated conductor James Lowe. The Smashing Pumpkins released their latest studio album, 'Aghori Mhori Mei', in 2024, though they put out 'Zodeon at Crystal Hall', a collection of bonus tracks from the band's 2023 three-act rock opera 'ATUM' last November. Corgan, meanwhile, released his third solo record, 'Cotillions', in 2019 under his full name, William Patrick Corgan.
Since their last proper album, the Pumpkins have also released 30th and 25th anniversary reissues of 'Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness' and 'Machina/The Machines of God', respectively. Earlier in the year, they joined Yungblud on a new version of the British rocker's track Zombie.
