AC/DC To Release Major Box Set

Wednesday, 07 October 2009 Written by Jon Stickler
ImageIt has been announced that kings of rock AC/DC are to release a new major box set on November 10th….and what a Box set it will be!!

The collection, which will include CDs, DVDs, 164-page book, an LP and a stash of original memorabilia reproductions, will be titled “Backtracks” and in true AC/DC rock and roll style, even the box itself will double up as a working amplifier! That’s right you didn’t read it wrong, one watt of pure AC/DC stored in the ‘head’ of the box, makes this whole package one of the ultimate collectors items. Ok, so with one watt you may not be able to turn it quite up to ‘11’, but where else would you be able to PLAY the box set while LISTENING TO the box set!

ImageThe 12”x12”x4” exterior box is designed to resemble a vintage AC/DC guitar amp, even complete with the nostalgia of the original AC/DC logo that was spray-painted onto the rear of Angus and Malcolm’s speaker cabinets back in 1975.

Fans will need to be quick in buying the piece of awesome AC/DC history as there are only 50,000 copies available and they can only be purchased via a website specifically set up by the band. Here’s the address http://www.acdcbacktracks.com

As for what’s exactly in the collection, well there is a very long list of goodies indeed, there’s a lot to go through here so have a deep breath. Music-wise the box will contain three CDs, two DVDs and a vinyl album. There will be a CD of studio rarities, tracks from the bands early Australia-only albums, plus B-sides and movie soundtrack material, two CDs featuring live rarities, a DVD disc of Family Jewels Part 3 (1992-2009) with more promo clips and live tracks, and a DVD disc featuring a show from 2003 in Circus Krone, Germany. The vinyl album will have all the studio rarities.

In addition, there will be a 164-page book, plus loads of extras, such as three black-and-white lithographs of unpublished, never-before-seen photos of the band in Alberts Studio in 1977, a flyer for the 1976 Lock Up Your Daughters UK tour and a poster from the 1977 European Let There Be Rock Tour. Also a piece of the bands very first tour merchandise, an “I DO IT FOR AC/DC” button, a Bon Scott parrot tattoo replica, an AC/DC logo guitar pick, and an Australian Money Talks dollar.

Is that amazing or what!! Start saving though as all this will set you back £152.20 + shipping. Surely though, a small price to pay for such a piece of Rock history!
