XFM Claim World Exclusive Full Playback Of Gorillaz New Album 'Plastic Beach'

Radio station Xfm will be claiming the world exclusive of the first full playback of Gorillaz new album ‘Plastic Beach’ tomorrow, March 2nd 2010.

The new album is released on Monday 8th March, but the first full radio airplay will be on Xfm tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd March at midday. The global radio station is set to air the new album in an exclusive show presented by John Kennedy and Gorillaz’ very own, Murdoc Niccals. The show will be from midday to 2pm.

Murdoc told Xfm “Listen up, right. I've let Captain James 'John' Kennedy have my amazing new Gorillaz album 'Plastic Beach. He’s going to play it out on XFM this coming Tuesday and i'll be there with him to tell him all about it. Be there or be square. Over and Out!”

The album includes an exciting variety of collaborations with other artists, as well as first single ‘Stylo’ featuring Bobby Womack and Mos Def. Other tracks on the album see the likes of Snoop Dogg, Kano, De La Soul and the National Orchestra for Arabic Music hooking up with the Gorillaz to create what looks to be another great album from the band.

Xfm claim that this will be the first full album playback, although rival NME Radio has previously played tracks from the album in a station “hijack”. Mike Walsh, head of music at Xfm, says, “Xfm is honoured to have some exclusive time with the legend that is Murdoc Niccals. Plastic Beach is a landmark album – a work of genius that will doubtlessly be one of the albums that 2010 will be remembered for.”

The Xfm Gorillaz playback happens tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd March, between 12 and 2pm.
