Former Stereophonics Drummer Stuart Cable Dies

Former Stereophonics powerhouse drummer Stuart Cable has died.

Stuart Cable was one of the founding members of welsh rockers Stereophonics. Known for his thunderous drumming as well as his charismatic attitude, during his time with the band he played a huge part in propelling the group to the heights of world fame.

Playing on a number of the band’s earlier studio albums, the band hit the spotlight with the release of their outstanding 1997 debut album ‘Word Gets Around’. The Cwmaman then-four piece went on to release a number of acclaimed indie-rock albums with Cable keeping the beat until his sacking from the group in 2003.

Since then, Cable went on to present his own radio rock show on BBC Radio Wales as well as continuing to create music with his new up and coming welsh rock outfit Killing For Company.

An unforgettable character and a well respected figure on the welsh rock circuit, Cable was in the process of writing an extremely personal autobiography which was set to contain the dirt on his sacking from the Stereophonics as well as information on the long-running friction between himself and band singer Kelly Jones.

Fans across the world will now be left stunned by the news that the drummer has passed away at the age of just forty years old. BBC Wales reported that emergency services were called out to Stuart Cable’s home in Llywydcoed at approximately 5am this morning. South Wales Police have since confirmed that the cause of Cable’s death had not yet been established however there were no suspicious circumstances at this stage.

RIP Stuart Cable, 1970 – 2010.
