Fever Ray is the solo project of The Knife's Karin Elisabeth Dreijer, a Swedish singer, songwriter and record producer. She'd also fronted the alternative rock band Honey Is Cool.
After The Knife finished promoting their 2006 album 'Silent Shout', Dreijer started working on demos and song ideas in a solo capacity.
Dreijer's vocal style is notable for intricate and mysterious shrill, deep, and multitracked vocals. Visually, Dreijer employs the use of masks, face and body paint, intricate costumes, and other theatrical elements in photo shoots, videos and live performances, during which she often performs behind a gauze screen that partially obscures her from view.
Her debut self titled album 'Fever Ray' was released in early 2009 to universal acclaim. Her sophomore studio album some eight years later, 'Plunge' was released in October 2017, preceded by the lead single To The Moon and Back. She's has performed at festivals such as Coachella, Electric Picnic, and Bestival.
Fever Ray will play the O2 Academy Brixton in London this autumn as part of a wider European tour, followed by a Manchester show as part of the Warehouse Projects collaboration with the city's International Festival.
