Andrew Hozier-Byrne - best known by his stage name Hozier - is an Irish singer-songwriter and musician hailing from Bray, County Wicklow. Born in 1990, he is one of the most prominent fresh faces on the scene.
Having been born to a musician, it was no surprise that music took a stronghold in Andrew’s life, and no surprise that he would go on to study the subject at Trinity College in Dublin. However, it wasn’t long before he had dropped out - as he was snapped up by the Universal Music Group subsidiary Island and the independent label Rubyworks.
Putting out his debut EP, ‘Take Me to Church’, in 2013, Hozier would find fame with its title track, which went on to reach #3 in the US, #2 in Ireland, and chart high in various countries across the world. It even became his first platinum-disc, too.
After months of touring and putting out more music, Hozier’s self-titled debut album would hit shelves in September 2014. He performed to sold out venues throughout May and June 2015, and returned for another tour in early 2016, with three dates in London included.
Hozier's next LP has been long-awaited, but looks set for a release sometime in 2018. You'll be able to hear some of his new music when he tours North America through September and October, in addition to touring the UK, Ireland and Europe in December. He also headlines Belfast's Belsonic Festival in June 2019, and plays a huge show at Cork's Independent Irish Park too. This is all on top of tours in North America and Australia too.
