Joan Baez is an American singer-songwriter and musician hailing from Staten Island, New York. Born in 1941, she would start performing around her local area from the age of 17, and soon found herself the proud owner of a career as a folk and country artist.
A talented pianist, guitarist, and ukulele-player as well as vocalist, Baez became an international success, releasing 24 albums and finding chart-success with hit singles like Diamonds & Rust, her cover of The Band's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, and her take on Phil Ochs’ There But for Fortune.
After 50 years in the music business, the American folk icon Joan Baez will bring her Fare Thee Well tour to the UK next spring. Her retirement plans include touring one final trek, which includes stops in York, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Bristol, Manchester and Gateshead before two dates at the Royal Albert Hall. The tour also rolls across North America too.
