John Cale is a musician, composer and producer from Carmarthenshire, Wales.
Starting his rock music career in 1965 as a member of The Velvet Underground, he left the band in 1968, and went on to forge a solo career. He has released 17 solo studio albums, with his most recent being 2023's 'Mercy', as well as countless live, collaborative and soundtrack records. In 1996, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Velvet Underground, and received an OBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours.
