John Cale is a Welsh musician and composer and producer from Carmarthenshire.
Starting his rock music career in 1965, as a member of The Velvet Underground, he left the band in 1968, and went on to forge a solo career. He has released 16 solo albums, including ‘Paris 1919’, in 1973 ‘Fear’, in 1974 and ‘Slow Dazzle’ and ‘Helen of Troy’ both in 1975. He released his latest album, ‘M:FANS’ in January 2016. He has also released several live albums and collaborative albums including ‘Songs for Drella’ with Lou Reed in 1990.
He has headlined his own shows and tours across the USA and UK, including performing at the BBC Prom concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, celebrating the music of David Bowie.
