He has released 18 solo studio albums, with his most recent being 2024's 'POPtical Illusion', as well as countless live, collaborative and soundtrack records. In 1996, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Velvet Underground, and received an OBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours.
