It is one of the largest music festivals in Europe, created in 1971 by two high school students, Mogens Sandfær and Jesper Switzer Møller, along with promoter Carl Fischer. In the past, the festival has seen the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Queens of the Stone Age, Lil Nas X, Blur, Bruno Mars, Eminem, Gorillaz, Khalid, Cardi B, Arcade Fire, Justice, Travis Scott, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Paul McCartney, Disclosure, Muse, Florence and the Machine and many more take to the stage. Roskilde Festival will return in June and July 2026 with performances from Gorillaz, The Cure, Zara Larsson, Clipse, David Byrne, Ethel Cain, Kneecap and Lily Allen.
