Shonen Knife is an pop-rock group hailing from Osaka, Japan. Formed in 1981, it currently consists of singer and guitarist Naoko Yamano, bassist Ritsuko Taneda, and drummer Risa, though frontwoman Yamano is the only original member.
Inspired by the likes of western pop and early 1960’s punk, Shonen Knife managed to find success across the world, recording songs in English as well as their native language and releasing 16 studio albums since their formation, with their latest being 2016’s ‘Adventure’. A new album, 'Sweet Candy Power' is due on June 5 2019. Shonen Knife are back in the UK this summer with tour dates throughout July to support the new record.
