Tindersticks are an indie rock band from Nottingham, UK consisting of Stuart Staples (vocals), David Boulter, Neil Fraser, Dan McKinna, and Earl Harvin.
Formed in 1991 by former members of the band Asphalt Ribbons, the band’s first and second self-titled albums established their sound, with live performances often including large string sections, or even a full orchestra. The band released a further four albums, but moved in a more soulful direction. In 2005 Staples begun a solo career, releasing two albums, ‘Lucky Dog Recordings 03-04’ and ‘Leaving Songs’.
The band reformed in 2006, to play a one-off concert at London’s Barbican Centre, performing their second album in full, and a stripped down version of the line-up, recorded a new album, ‘The Hungry Saw’ in 2008. The band went through several more lineup changes through the next two album releases, before releasing the retrospective, ‘Across Six Leap Years’, which consisted of re-recorded versions of 10 songs from the band’s back-catalog and Staples solo career.
The band are set to release their 11th album, ‘The Waiting Room’ in 2016 and you can catch them on tour in spring of that year with a special set of cine-shows. For more information on tickets see below.
