Founded in 1867, Wasps Football Club is a professional rugby union team originally based in west London. They moved to Coventry in 2014 after buying the Ricoh Arena, now called the Coventry Building Society Arena.
They last played in Premiership Rugby, the top division of English rugby, until being suspended on in October 2022, entering administration which resulted in relegation from the league. They exited administration in December 2022. In May 2023, the Rugby Football Union withdrew the club's licence to play in the 2023/24 Championship after the club failed to find fresh financial backing, consigning the former English champions to the basement of the bottom of the entire league structure.
