Formed in 1967, they released their debut self-titled album in 1972, followed by ‘Tyranny and Mutation’ in 1973, and ‘Secret Treaties’ in 1974, but it was their fourth album, ‘Agents of Fortune’ in 1976, that gained them wider notoriety, hitting #29 in the Billboard Hot 200 and containing the single, (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Their fifth album, ‘Spectres’, released in 1977, spawned the hit Godzilla, while their eighth album, ‘Fire of Unknown Origin’, which came out in 1981, featured Burnin' for You. The band’s latest and fourteenth album, ‘Curse of the Hidden Mirror’, was released in 2001.
