Joe McElderry has toppled Rage Against The Machine from the top of the UK singles chart. The winner of X Factor, covered the song ‘The Climb’ which was orginally sung by Miley Cyrus. The single has sold 160,000 copies during the last seven days and it is now on target to be one of the biggets selling singles of 2009, with about 650,000 copies being sold so far.

Who would have thought it a few weeks ago that a 90's underground rock act would be competing for the UK 2009 Christmas Number One single? Thanks to an Internet campaign on social networking site facebook, which has snowballed in recent weeks to capture the imagination of the nation, it could soon be a reality. What's more the band have now announced there will be a huge FREE concert to take place next year in the UK to celebrate if they claim victory over the X-Factor winners song. 'Killing In The Name' is currently just 5,000 sales ahead of the X-Factor winners track, with Saturday sales being crucial on the busiest shopping day of the year. John Frusciante Quits Red Hot Chili Peppers?
Fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be left stunned today, after reports have emerged that guitarist John Frusciate has quit the band. The guitar wizard, Frusciate, has been a key man in creating some of the Red Hot Chili Peppers greatest songs, songs that are capable of shifting from funk to metal effortlessly within the blink of an eye. The musician lifted the group to greater heights and played an essential role in what many call, the bands greatest album, the much loved ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’. However soon after the release of the album Fruciante departed to battle heroin addiction. Later, reuniting with the group having beaten the drugs, the Chilis enjoyed another huge rise in popularity.
