Iron Maiden's 'The Final Frontier' Tops UK Album Chart

UK heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have ended Eminem’s dominance at the top of the UK album chart, storming to Number One in the first week of release of thier new album.

Entering the countdown at Number One with their 15th studio album ‘The Final Frontier’, Iron Maiden knocked the US rap superstar Eminem and his album ‘Recovery’ down to second place. Meanwhile girl group The Saturdays enter the charts at Number Three with their new album ‘Headlines’ and Arcade Fire’s ‘The Suburbs’ slips to Number Five.

In a career that spans 35 years, ‘The Final Frontier’ will be the band’s fourth UK Number One album having first claimed the top spot in 1982 with Bruce Dickinson’s debut album ‘The Number of the Beast’. The veteran band then notched up their second Number One with 1988 album ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’, while last hitting the top spot in 1992 for their ‘Fear Of The Dark’ album.

With the album also hitting the Number One spot in both Sweden and Finland, back in the UK ‘The Final Frontier’ has been reported to have sold 22,000 copies this week, more than three times as many as its nearest rival, Eminem’s ‘Recovery’, which had only sold 7,000.
