Glaswegian electro-pop group A Band Called Quinn have announced they will release their new single ‘Here’s to Us’ on October 18th.
After being spotted at a club night featuring jazz-playing badgers, psychics and burlesque puppeteers, Glaswegian electro-pop outfit A Band Called Quinn, fronted by singer and songwriter Louise Quinn, hit the road last year for a UK jaunt with award winning theatre company Vanishing Point.
Performing a futuristic version of John Gay’s 18th Century classic ‘The Beggar’s Opera’, the event was pitched somewhere between a gig and a play. Despite being a spectacle, the show courted much controversy in the theatre world, dividing the critics and reviews ranged from 1-5 stars. Their album is a record of the songs written specially for the show.
In addition to their controversy, A Band Called Quinn have also drawn the support of some big names to their music. Not only has the band signed up best selling crime writer and Rebus creator Ian Rankin to write their album’s sleevenotes, the group has also attracted celebrity fans including Madonna and Parisian superstar DJ Kid Loco, who tops an impressive list of past collaborators that includes Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand fame, indie legends The Pastels and Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Gordy Goudie.
A Band Called Quinn will release their new single ‘Here’s to Us’ on October 18th, the track is taken from the new album ‘The Beggars Opera’.
