Take That Hold Firm At Top Of UK Albums Chart

British boyband Take That have held off competition from JLS and Westlife to stay at the top of the UK Albums chart. Their latest effort ‘Progress’ entered the chart at Number One, becoming the fastest selling album of the decade. The record sold over 520,000 copies in its first week of sales.

The band have held off some tough competition in the run-up to Christmas: JLS entered the chart at Number Two this week with their latest album ‘Outta This World’ and Westlife at Number Three with ‘Gravity’. Other new entries in the top 20 included Russell Watson with ‘La Voce’ at number 13 and My Chemical Romance, who entered at number 14 with ‘Danger days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys’.

In terms of singles, The X Factor finalists went straight to the top of the UK Singles chart with their rendtition of David Bowie’s hit, ‘Heroes’. The song, which is a fundraising effort for the British ‘Help For Heroes’ charity held off the likes of Ellie Goulding, JLS and Olly Murs to reach the top spot.
