Dave Grohl: Krist Novoselic's Foo Fighters Song Is 'Dark'

Foo Fighters vocalist Dave Grohl has shed light on his recent collaboration with former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic. In a recent interview with Q magazine, the singer declared that working with Novoselic was a comfortable process, but he announced that the material recorded together was the ‘darkest’ on the new album.

“We’ve always been in touch. One of the things about the expanded Nirvana family, it doesn’t matter how much time has passed, when you see each other you’re immediately connected by that, by the good and bad things,” Grohl said.

Grohl revealed that he would be teaming up with his Nirvana bandmate in an earlier interview from October. The pair have only recorded material together once since the infamous end of the grunge band in 1994, where Novoselic provided backing vocals on a track called ‘Walking a Line’ for the Foo’s in 2002.

Grohl continued to discuss the comfort of their current relationship: “When I see Krist, I hug him to celebrate our lives, but I also hug him to console him, y’know. There’s a song called ‘I Should Have Known’ that I thought would sound great with his bass-playing and accordion-playing. It’s probably the darkest song on the album.”

Although Foo Fighters are yet to reveal a release date for their follow up to ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’, early speculators are predicting a date close to their two massive arena shows in Milton Keynes next July.
