Signed £15,000 Jack White Guitar Stolen

Friday, 25 February 2011 Written by James Conlon

A guitar signed by former White Stripes frontman Jack White has been stolen in East London. The Fender Stratocaster, worth over £15,000 was taken from an art studio on the night of January 23rd.

Studio owner Paul Biver had received the guitar as a gift from a friend after helping with a lengthy restoration project. Speaking to BBC News about the incident, he said: "A friend of mine collects rock memorabilia and had asked me to help transform his barge but then ran out of money, so I asked if I could have the guitar as payment."

Biver continued: "That was three years ago so obviously it has just increased in value since then. I don't normally store it in my design studio but was making a case for it so was gutted when I realised it had been taken."

Also stolen were a computer and television. Police have launched a public appeal for anyone with with knowledge about the incident or the guitar’s whereabouts to volunteer information.

Meanwhile, Jack White has recently revealed that he will never form another new band. Speaking to music magazine Q, the singer stated that he will only release music with his current groups (The Raconteurs or The Dead Weather) or as a solo artist. He said: "If I can't say it in any of these bands, then I'll say it by myself."
