Paolo Nutini has caught the eye of rap mogul Jay-Z after a triumphant set at Glastonbury over the weekend, according to reports. The ‘Empire State Of Mind’ star is said to have been watching Nutini’s set from the wings at the Worthy Farm festival, before approaching the singer to discuss future projects after the show.
According to The Sun, Jay-Z had been hoping to contact Nutini for a while after hearing his material, but chose his moment after watching a well-received set which featured 2009 hit ‘Pencil Full of Lead’.
The tabloid paper quoted one of their (ever reliable) sources as saying: "Jay-Z was getting really excited about Paolo. He'd heard about him before Glastonbury and was keen to see him in action."
They continued: "As soon as the show ended he approached Paolo and told him he was the best thing he'd seen so far at the festival. They talked about future projects - Jay-Z is keen to work with him."
Meanwhile, Nutini recently confirmed that he is nearing completion on his third studio LP. The Scottish singer described the upcoming effort, saying: "I have played it to friends and, based on what I have heard back, it is a different vibe. There seems to be a lot more electric guitar. It is hard for me to talk about it as a body of work at the moment because it isn't one. We're at that point where it could still change."
