Modfather Paul Weller has confessed to The Times that he once had a serious drinking problem and ‘thinks he is an alcoholic’ – adding that his drinking was ‘killing him’.
The superstar rocker, who once fronted The Jam, told the paper that he used to have a major drinking problem and had to stop – otherwise his addiction may have become life-threatening.
“I feel fitter now,” Weller told The Times. “I go to the gym. Stopped drinking about 16 months ago… Time for a lifestyle change. I couldn't keep doing it. It was killing me... I miss the silliness… I'm not one of those people who can just have a couple of drinks. If it's two, it might as well be 20. If it's 20, it might as well be 40… I think I'm an alcoholic, definitely. Yeah. I would have thought so. It's hard to know where a pisshead becomes an alkie. Fine line. But yeah, I think so.”
Weller’s latest record ‘Sonik Kicks’ hits shelves later this month on March 26th – meaning he’ll have a load of new material to perform at his up and coming shows in London’s Roundhouse from March 18th-22nd. Check the dates and details below to grab yourself tickets.
