The nation’s favourite tenor, Alfie Boe, is to headline the free family Sunday entertainment at Rhondda Cynon Taf's' Ponty Big Weekend.
Alfie has performed on some of the most prestigious stages in the world and now he is bringing his talent to Rhondda Cynon Taf, allowing people of all ages to enjoy his sensational voice. People of all ages can relax in the beautiful surroundings of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park and enjoy the tones of Alfie Boe, who shot to stardom after he was heard practising his arias – as he worked as a mechanic in his local TVR factory!
He went on to study at the Royal College of Music and The Royal Opera House and achieved international fame in La Boheme on Broadway and as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. He has two Top 10 albums to his name with 'Bring Him Home' and the follow‐up 'Alfie', which were both certified Platinun this year
Sunday also features support artists Laura Wright, Britain’s most exciting new opera star, who has topped the Classical Charts, sung at the Olympic Stadium, and recorded the Diamond Jubilee song 'Stronger As One'. Also appearing are Amore, four young opera singers who met at the Royal College of Music and are now signed to Warners Bros. Records.
