Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards Show To Feature Performances From All Shortlisted Artists

The Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards Show takes place this Thursday, 1st November. The event is to be held at the Roundhouse in London and hosted by broadcaster Lauren Laverne for the first time. Featuring performances from all of the shortlisted artists, the evening will culminate in the announcement of the overall winner of the 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize for Album of the Year.

TV coverage of the event is increasing in 2012, with dedicated programmes airing on Channel 4 and 4Music for the first time, as part of a new three-year deal. Live coverage of the event is being broadcast on the night itself starting at 9.45pm on 4Music, with the overall winner also revealed live on Channel 4 at 10.00pm. The entire Awards Show, including all 12 live performances, will be broadcast in full the following night at 11.35pm on Channel 4. Nick Grimshaw is to present coverage on both channels.

Awards Show host Lauren Laverne said: “"I’m so excited about hosting the Awards Show for the first time. It’s such a strong line-up this year - we’re going to be treated to some spectacular performances at the Roundhouse on Thursday. I can’t wait to see which album I’m going to be announcing as the overall winner at the end of the night”."

This year music fans can show their support for their favourite shortlisted albums by tweeting messages of support at www.barclaycard.co.uk/voiceyoursupport. The website will convert tweets of support into an audio track that will then be pressed to vinyl record.

The 2012 Albums of the Year are:

Alt-J - An Awesome Wave
Ben Howard - Every Kingdom
Django Django - Django Django
Field Music - Plumb
Jessie Ware - Devotion
Lianne La Havas - Is Your Love Big Enough?
Michael Kiwanuka - Home Again
Plan B - Ill Manors
Richard Hawley - Standing at the Sky’s Edge
Roller Trio - Roller Trio
Sam Lee - Ground of its Own
The Maccabees - Given to the Wild
