Jools Holland And His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra Confirmed For Jazz FM Love Supreme Jazz Festival

Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis Quartet, Neil Cowley Trio, Soweto Kinch, Phantom Limb and Zara McFarlanehave all been confirmed to perform next July at the Love Supreme Jazz Festival, the first major UK festival of its kind in over 20 years. Jazz FM Love Supreme Jazz Festival Tickets go on sale today. Further acts, including Saturday night headliners, will be announced in the coming months.

Taking place at Glynde Place, East Sussex (near Brighton), the stunning location near the South Downs, over the three days of Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2013, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival will, with four stages (a main stage, a unique green-field festival indoor floored and seated Jazz stage, a ‘Discovery’ stage and a dance stage) provide a repertoire to engage the most serious jazz fan and general music lovers alike. Differing from other UK city-based Jazz Festivals, just one ticket to the Love Supreme Jazz Festival will give fans access to all of the music provided on all four stages: over 40 acts, four stages, three days, one price.

Ciro Romano, Festival Director and managing director of Neapolitan Music, said: “We are thrilled that the passionate combination of Jazz FM, Ingenious, Serious and ourselves will bring back the green-field Jazz festival after such a long break. We wanted to be able to provide a quality experience where at one cost there would be a massive variety of Jazz music on offer and the festival at Glynde Place will allow us to do this.”

Headlining on Sunday 7th July, the incredible Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra featuring Gilson Lavis will bring the festival to a spectacular close. For the past 20 years Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra have garnered a reputation for providing the best party atmosphere that music can offer. The performance will feature long-term guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall with special guest to be announced shortly.

The two-time Grammy-winner and charismatic bassist and composer Marcus Miller, renowned for his long association with Miles Davis and now a dynamic leader in his own right, has also been confirmed to perform.

The first act confirmed to perform on the special covered and seated Jazz Stage will be one of the most revered instrumentalists of his time, Branford Marsalis. As the Branford Marsalis Quartet, the three-time Grammy Award winner brings one of the finest Jazz Quartets today to play this unique stage at the debut Love Supreme Jazz Festival.

The Neil Cowley Trio, recently nominated as UK Jazz Artist of the Year for the first-ever Jazz FM Awards, will bring their deeply engaging and dynamic performance to the stunning Glynde Place location.

The festival will also play host to performances from alto-saxophonist Soweto Kinch, one of the UK’s most exciting and versatile young musicians spanning both jazz and hip hop scenes, Bristol’s country, soul, gospel and jazz infused Phantom Limb and Zara McFarlane the 28 year-old London vocalist.

The Love Supreme Jazz Festival revives a great tradition of open-air jazz festivals that stretches back to 1956, when the Beaulieu Festival was launched at Lord Montague’s country house in Hampshire. Others followed, including the National Jazz and Blues Festival, which started during the 1960s, changed its musical style and evolved into today’s Reading and Leeds Festival.

The first of its kind for more than 20 years, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival will provide great food from around the world, luxury and standard camping, chill out and relaxation zones, family friendly activities accompanied by a blend of core and cutting edge jazz artists, crossover jazz musicians and great artists from the worlds of soul, blues and funk.
