Thrash legends Metallica look set to head south this December for a special show in Antarctica.
Details are yet to be announced by Metallica but the gig looks set to go ahead as part of a competition run by Coca Cola Zero, with news emerging via the Colombian website for the soft drink. If the show does go ahead, it will be only the second concert ever on the continent.
It's unclear as to when the unique show will go ahead, but the competition details state that contestants must be available to travel between December 2 and 15. These dates correspond with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's previous comments:
"There's a very interesting thing coming our way in December. If anybody [in management] even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we're very excited about."
If the gig does go ahead, Metallica will be the first major band to play in Antarctica. Stay tuned to Stereoboard for further details in the coming weeks.
