Neneh Cherry is back with a new single.

Kong was produced by Four Tet and Massive Attack's 3D, while its video is the work of director Jenn Nkiru. It is the vocalist's first new offering since her He, She, Me collaboration with Devonté Hynes in 2015.

Cherry's last solo album, meanwhile, was 2014's 'Blank Project', which was also produced by Four Tet and marked her first solo full-length for 18 years.

The new track's video, which you can check out below, has striking, yet vulnerable clips that perfectly mirror the tone of Cherry's words, which mix the personal with political. "Bite my head off, steal my world, we'll always be a little risk worth taking', she sings beautifully understated beats.

Introducing Kong online, Cherry said:

"Kong is an attempt at putting to words the ever growing disaster that is the displaced people of this world. The lyrics are trying to be personal and remembering the things that are easy to forget: the ordinary everyday lives, everyday loves, family, home left behind in deep pain trying to save life. Looking at the maps of Europe and the great West with all its promise of possibility....the lands that created all the misery in first place..."

Alongside the song, the singer has also confirmed a trio of intimate shows for this autumn. She will call at Tradgarden in Stockholm on September 6, London's Village Underground on September 12 and Le Cafe de la Danse in Paris on September 26.
