Blink 182's Mark Hoppus And All Time Low's Alex Gaskarth Form New Band Simple Creatures

Thursday, 24 January 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Blink 182's Mark Hoppus and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low have formed a new band.

The frontmen announced the Simple Creatures project via social media and confirmed they'll drop their first EP in March, though an exact release date hasn't been confirmed.

In a short note on their website, they said:

"Hi. We are Simple Creatures. We just woke up from a very long sleep. We have so much to tell you, but for the moment, all we can say is that we are glad you are here.

We made music for you ...

It is Drug"

Head below to listen to their debut single, Drug. It's not exactly the epic pop-punk triumpth you'd expect from the genre's heavyweights, though it's not without a certain charm. A sinister bassline booms throughout, while Hoppus and Gaskarth ping-pong lead vocals and samples fill the spaces between guitar lines, which can't but help you to draw comparisons with Twenty One Pilots.

All Time Low released their latest album, 'Last Young Renegade', in 2017 and will return to the UK in May to headline Slam Dunk. Blink 182, meanwhile, are said to be currently working on the follow up to 2016's 'California'.
