Alex Lahey has announced her sophomore album.

'The Best Of Luck Club', the follow up to 2017's 'I Love You Like A Brother', will arrive on May 17 via Dead Oceans, who also put out its predecessor. It was recorded at Sing Sing South studio in her hometown of Melbourne and she co-produced it alongside Catherine Marks, as well as playing almost every instrument. Discussing the title of the album, the majority of which she wrote in Nashville, Lahey said:

“In Nashville I was really inspired by the dive bar scene there and the idea that at these dive bars there's no pretentious energy. Whether you've had the best day of your life or the worst day of your life, you can just sit up at the bar and turn to the person next to you - who has no idea who you are - and have a chat. And the response that you generally get at the end of the conversation is, 'Best of luck,’ so The Best Of Luck Club is that place."

The Australian singer-songwriter will follow up the record's release with a UK and Ireland tour. The run will kick off at Broadcast in Glasgow on May 13 and conclude at Cardiff's Clwb Ifor Bach on may 20. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on February 22.

Head below to check out the video for the record's first single. Don't Be So Hard On Yourself. It's a gloriously upbeat toe tap-inducing pop-rock offering that sees the same insightful and observational songwriting that endeared Lahey to us on her debut.
