Alex Lahey has released a new single, Unspoken History.

The track is the third and final cut, following Don't Be So Hard On Yourself and Am I Doing It Right?, to be shared from her new album, 'The Best Of Luck Club', which is due out on May 17. Lahey said:

"When I was in Nashville, I spent some time in a tiny writing room creating songs for this record. Towards the end of that time, I felt as though I was starting to exhaust my output and was starting to become complacent about what I had left to give. On one of my last days there, I was lent a guitar that was set up in a variation on open D tuning, which is something I never play in. In the process of nutting out chords and voicing in this tuning, the melody to the verses just came out. When I started putting words to it, it started off as being about one thing, but then morphed into something else, creating its own path very organically."

The song is a much more sombre offering than we're used to from the Australian singer-songwriter. With its understated guitar and piano melodies, it shows Lahey is just as effective when paring things back as when she's cranking the pop-rock up to 10.

Lahey will support her new record with shows in the UK and Ireland, Australia and North America. Check below for dates and tickets.

It’s this modest outlook that makes the Melbourne native so relatable, but she’s possibly more shrewd and sharp-witted than even she realises.

Yet he’s certainly travelled a great distance to where he finds himself today, having risen from an extremely dysfunctional background to earn a reputation as one of the finest songwriters of his generation.
