Cage The Elephant have cancelled their upcoming European and UK shows.

The band, who released 'Social Cues' in April, were due to perform in Amsterdam, London, Isle of Wight, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Paris between June 12 and 20 but have had to pull out of the dates due to their guitarist Nick Bockrath requiring surgery.

Bockrath had an accident while on stage at Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands and injured his leg, rupturing his posterior cruciate ligament, tearing his anterior cruciate ligament, fracturing his tibia and damaging his meniscus. Ouch!

Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase and the band have said they will "keep you posted on future dates." Head below for the full statement.
