Death Cab For Cutie Announce 'The Blue' EP, Share First Track Kids In '99

Death Cab For Cutie have announced a new EP.
The eight-time Grammy-nominated band will put out ‘The Blue EP’ on September 6. Its first cut, Kids In '99, is a tribute to three children who lost their lives in a gas pipeline explosion in Bellingham, Washington — the band’s hometown.
The song opens with some intricate percussive rhythms and Ben Gibbard’s distinctive vocals lamenting,“thinking about those kids,” before a breakdown reiterates “gone, gone.”
“The Olympic Pipeline explosion in 1999 was a tragedy that really affected me while we were living in Bellingham,” Gibbard reflects. “After all these years I felt it was worthy of its own folk song."
Following on from 2018's 'Thank You For Today', 'The Blue EP' sees production from Peter Katis and Rich Costey, as well as the final track being self-produced by the band. Head below for the record's artwork and tracklist.
