R.E.M. have unearthed a new song from their archives, Fascinating.
The lost song can be streamed via Bandcamp and downloaded for a minimum donation of $2.00, with all proceeds going to Mercy Corps, a disaster relief organisation working to help people in the Bahamas affected by the recent devastating Hurricane Dorian.
The track was due to feature on the band's 2001 record 'Reveal' but was cut at the last minute, despite being vocalist Michael Stipe's favourite of the album's sessions.
R.E.M. re-recorded the song at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas for 2004's 'Around the Sun', but ultimately the ballad didn’t fit with the atmospheric album.
Speaking about the release, CEO of Mercy Corps Neal Keny-Guyer said:
"The Bahamas faces a long road to recovery after this devastating hurricane. We're grateful to have R.E.M. in our global community of humanitarians, sharing their song with the world to help the people of the Bahamas recover and build back even stronger."
The band recently announced they're reissuing 'Monster' on November 1 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Head here for further details.
