Porches has shared a new single.

Rangerover is the first piece of new music from Aaron Maine since his 2018 LP ‘The House’, and lands like the wonky love child of Phoenix and the 1975, teaming laidback synths with staccato guitar notes and quotidian lyrics: “I got home and laid out my back-to-school clothes. It’s a sunset, it’s a dead leaf, it’s sand in your mouth, it’s sunscreen in your eyes.”

Maine said of his ever-evolving project as Porches:

"Sometimes you can string words together that don’t make sense literally, but they capture whatever the sentiment is so perfectly that it doesn’t matter. You know when it feels right, and you know when it feels wrong. I try and keep what I make close to home. Sometimes that home is fantasy, sometimes it’s autobiographical, sometimes it’s neither, but it’s always a way to interpret my experiences in a way that is intimate to me.

Like any other type of diary, when you open up an old one you can feel all sorts of things: proud, ashamed, excited, mortified, humbled, out of your mind, smart, idiotic. I feel all of these things about Porches."
