Foals, Wolf Alice, The Vaccines And More To Feature On Compilation Album In Aid Of NHS Key Workers

Thursday, 30 April 2020 Written by Sophie Williams

A one-off compilation album is set to be released in aid of NHS Key Workers and funding specialist PPE for hospitals across the UK.

‘Songs For The National Health Service’ will arrive via Blood Records on July 19. The 15-song collection comprises a mixture of unreleased tracks, demos and live recordings from indie-rock's finest, with contributions from Foals, Wolf Alice, the Vaccines, the Big Moon, Baxter Dury, Nilüfer Yanya, the Magic Gang and Sports Team, among others.

All proceeds from the record will directly fund the purchase and distribution of reusable PPE Respirators to protect key workers during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The compilation will be released on a limited edition run of blue vinyl in partnership with Dr. Natalie Watson at University Hospital Lewisham, as she launches the Hoods for Heroes campaign. Watson said:

“Our initial target of £30,000 will provide enough PAPR (powered air purifying respirators) to help fully stock Lewisham Greenwich NHS Trust (site of the UK’s first confirmed Covid-19 patient), Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust and University Hospital Crosshouse, Scotland. All money raised beyond that will provide equipment for further hospitals and regions based on need, not only helping safely treat victims of the pandemic, but enabling NHS teams to restart time-critical head and neck cancer surgery.”

The album is now available to pre-order. Check out the tracklist below:
