The alt-metal giants, whose last album was 2016's 'Gore', recently blacked out their social media platforms and launched a mysterious website, www.deftones.com/0925, leading to speculation of a potential release on September 25, which falls on the day albums and singles are typically released.
Yesterday (August 16), the band took to Twitter for another teaser, this time dropping a short clip with the words "no you will never find me." Fans will recognise these lyrics from the song One Weak from the band's 1995 debut LP, 'Adrenaline'. Could we be getting an announcement in one week?
The potential date also falls in line with what drummer Abe Cunningham revealed when asked about the status of the band’s ninth studio LP. Speaking to Download TV this summer, Cunningham said "it should be coming along, hopefully, maybe September."
In July, Deftones announced a rescheduled run of North American dates for August and September 2021, after COVID-19 forced them to cancel a string of shows this summer.
