Father John Misty Shares Two New Songs To S. And To R.

Tuesday, 18 August 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Father John Misty has shared two new songs.

To S. and To R. serve as John Tillman's double a-side contribution to Sub Pop's 'Singles Club Vol. 5'. It's also the first new music we've heard from the singer-songwriter since his 2018 album 'God's Favorite Customer'.

Both tracks were recorded in Los Angeles, with production from Dave Cerminara and the Haxan Cloak. They're more ethereal than anything we've previously heard from Tillman, with To S. playing out over delicate piano, acoustic guitar and string arrangements. To R., meanwhile, is another piano-driven, slightly less haunting number that floats along with a hushed drum beat.

Back in July, Tillman put out a covers EP titled 'Anthem +3'. In March he dropped his first live record, 'Off-Key in Hamburg'.
