The Great Divide is an eclectic track that expands upon a foundation of twinkling synth warbles and digitised handclaps, while keeping frontman James Mercer’s characteristic vocals front and centre. He explained: “It’s an epic about longing and love in a broken world. I guess we wanted to try to provide a bit of warmth and sentiment in hard times...”
The American indie-rockers’ last full-length came in the form of 2017’s ‘Heartworms’, which was followed by its accompanying remix album, ‘The Worm’s Heart’, in 2018.
