Sundara Karma Post New Song Artifice, Line Up November Release For 'Kill Me' EP

Monday, 26 October 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Sundara Karma have dropped a new single and details of their 'Kill Me' EP.

Following the eponymous song, Artifice is the second preview of the five-track release, which was co-produced by singer Oscar Pollack and Clarence Clarity. It's due to land on November 24 via Chess Club, following up their 2019 album 'Ulfilas Alphabet'.

The song finds the Reading group evolving their dream-pop sound through shimmering electronic textures and vocal effects. Expanding on the lyrics, Pollock said:

"Artifice is about someone having been in your life and not being in it anymore, but they've left a mark that will never be removed…. and being able to make peace with that. The scar may be there forever, but that’s fine because life goes on."

"Making the new EP made me realise where the last album came from," he added, reflecting on his writing for 'Ulfila’s Alphabet', which he penned while secluded in the English countryside. "I was very disconnected from the rest of the world."

This time around he worked on songs in London. "I definitely think there's still an organic nature to all of our music, which I hope we never lose. I think that’s maybe what’s at the core of the band. But the balance has been really beneficial. It feels like my writing needed that structure."

On their partnership with Clarity, he concluded: "It was really exciting to work together… I've been a fan of his solo material for a while now and I think he's really helped me translate my songs into a more streamlined sequence of sounds. There’s so much going on with each of these songs."
