Daft Punk Announce Split

Monday, 22 February 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Daft Punk are calling it a day after 28 years.

The influential French electronic duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter formed in Paris in 1993 and put out their debut album 'Homework' four years later. They went on to release three more LPs; 2001's 'Discovery', 2005's 'Human After All', with their last full-length being 2013's 'Random Access Memories'.

The multiple Grammy-winning pair made the announcement via an eight-minute video posted to their YouTube channel. The clip, named Epilogue, is an excerpt from their 2006 film Electroma. Take a look below.

Pitchfork reports that their longtime publicist Kathryn Frazier confirmed the news but gave no reason for the split.
