Damon Albarn has released a new song, Royal Morning Blue.

More upbeat than his previous tracks, the soothing number twists and turns through bright moments and melancholy tones, driven by a lively beat. It was penned and recorded in Iceland, with its lyrics directly inspired by the view from Albarn's position at the piano looking out over the sea. He said:

"That’s why the song opens with 'Rain turning into snow,' because it's that moment, that feeling. In all the darkness that we have experienced, that was such a beautiful, positive thing."

The single will appear on the Blur and Gorillaz frontman's upcoming second solo LP, 'The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows', due out on November 12 via Transgressive Records. Previous cuts include the title track, Polaris, and Particles.

As with the previously shared tunes, it comes with a cinematic performance film directed by Transgressive Records founder Toby L.

Albarn has rescheduled gigs in London and Dublin, along with stops across Europe, in the diary for early 2022.
