Supermodel marks the Italian band's first new music of 2022 and follows their autumn 2021 single Mammamia. They released their third studio LP, ’Teatro D’ira - Vol. 1’, in the spring of that year.
Penned in Los Angeles and produced by Max Martin, the new single arrives as the winners of 2021's Eurovision prepare to hand over their crown. Sunny and vibrant, with a catchy guitar riff that owes more than a little to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, it'll be performed live for the first time by the group at the Eurovision Song Contest final this Saturday (May 14), celebrating a year since their win. They said:
"We wrote Supermodel after spending the best few months in LA. At times we were surprised yet intrigued to find how people cared so much about the idea of "celebrity" and status, obsessing over their looks and connections.
"We started to imagine an enigmatic Supermodel character. She is really cool, fun and social, yet in reality she is troubled, hiding sadness and addiction. In a way you love her, because she knows how to have a good time, but you also want to avoid her, because she might get you into trouble."
The band will embark on the North American leg of their Loud Kids Tour in the autumn. They also have a European run scheduled for 2023, which includes a date at London's O2 Arena. Tickets are on sale.
