Llais international arts festival will return to Cardiff in October.

The event formerly known as the Festival Of Voice will take over the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay for five days this autumn, with iconic former Velvet Underground member John Cale (pictured) returning to his native Wales for a headline slot during the year of his 80th birthday.

Other acts set to perform include Suede's Brett Anderson performing Death Songbook with Paraorchestra and other guests, South African jazz pianist Abdullah Ibrahim, Midlake, Black Midi and Cate Le Bon.

In addition to an eclectic line-up of international acts, the festival will also include the Welsh Music Prize ceremony for the first time. Featuring live performances and the announcement of three prizes, the ceremony will culminate with the presentation of the Welsh Music Prize itself. Wales Millennium Centre's artistic director, Graeme Farrow commented:

"We've put together a cracking line-up for this year's Llais; from veterans to the hottest new talent, from Wales and the world over, from poets to Paraorchestra. And to top it all off, we’re incredibly proud to welcome the iconic Welsh Music Prize to the festival. It feels like a match made in music heaven."
