Miya Folick has released a new single.

The synth-led Bad Thing was written by Folick, Mitski and Andrew Wells, who also handled production along with Gabe Wax.

It'll appear on the Los Angeles artist's upcoming EP, '2007', which is scheduled to arrive on September 8 via Nettwerk. Folick said:

"The day I wrote this song, I woke up with a first-class, absolutely soul crushing hangover, after having slept for a couple fretful hours. I wasn't the kind of person who could hide a hangover, so I told Mitski and Andrew what was going on. We wrote this song. It’s about being stuck in a cycle of behaviour that you can't get out of, but it's not bleak. There's hope in the song. I always knew that I would get out of that cycle eventually."

Head below to view the accompanying video, directed by Ruby Caster, shot entirely on an iPhone. Folick will tour the UK and Europe with Tove Lo this autumn.

'2007' tracklist:

1. Oh God
2. Bad Thing
3. Nothing To See
4. 2007
5. Cartoon Clouds
6. Ordinary
