Kesha has shared the first singles from her new album.

Eat The Acid and Fine Line come ahead of 'Gag Order', which is due out through Kemosabe/RCA Records on May 19.

Both tracks show off a new style from the singer, and, combined with the record's title, seem to allude to her ongoing legal battle she launched against Dr. Luke in 2014. Both without any drumbeat, Fine Line is a stripped back alt-pop ballad, while Eat The Acid is a more experimental pop affair that builds to a haunting climax.

Produced by Rick Rubin and executive produced by Kesha, 'Gag Order' is described as an album that excavates, "the deepest recesses of her soul." Earlier this week, the 36-year-old unveiled its dark artwork that depicts her head in a plastic bag. Commenting on the project, which her and her team call a "post-pop emotional exorcism", she wrote in an album manifesto:

"Without the darkness there is no light. So I let my darkness have the light. I can’t fight the truth. Life is difficult and painful. It is for everyone. An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, color to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones."

Her most recent LP, 'High Road', was released in January 2020.
