The Streets have announced a new album.

The follow-up to 2020's 'None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive' is called 'The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light' and will arrive on October 20 through 679 Recordings/Warner Music UK Ltd. The record will be accompanied by Skinner's first feature film, which shares its name with the album. In a statement, he said:

"It has been seven long years working on this film and album. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and after dipping my toe in with some shorts and music videos, I felt I was ready. I tried to go the traditional route for a bit, but it’s always served me better to follow my instincts and just get on with it myself, so I've directed it, acted in it, edited, sound mixed, funded, produced it all as well as written it. The album doesn’t exist without it. Ultimately it’s all the fruits of a decade on the DJ circuit, watching people in clubs and back rooms, testing out beats and basslines to see what connected - and putting it all together into The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light”

Skinner wrote all the tracks on the record, but there are also vocal contributions from longtime collaborators Kevin Mark Trail and Robert Harvey, as well as a song with Teef.

As a taster of the album, Skinner has shared the first single, Troubled Waters, which brings together club beats, soulful vocals and a pared-back piano interlude with Skinner's captivating storytelling and social commentary. Check out its video below, alongside the record's artwork and tracklist.

The Streets will support 'The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light' with an autumn UK tour that will conclude with a huge London show at Alexandra Palace on November 16. Tickets go on general sale 9am next Friday (July 21).

Prior to their headline run, they'll play Cardiff's Alexandra Head on September 7, as part of The Bay Series, and Dreamland Margate the following day, as part of the Margate Summer Series.
