Dolly Parton Releases Cover Of Queen's We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You

Wednesday, 26 July 2023 Written by Jon Stickler

Dolly Parton has shared a cover of Queen's We Are The Champions.

It marks the fourth single from the American country music icon's first rock-orientated record, 'Rockstar', due out on November 17 via her own Butterfly Records in conjunction with Big Machine Label Group.

The new version doesn't feature any special guest appearances, unlike most of the 30 songs on the LP, and stays faithful to the 1977 tune, with Parton dropping her signature southern twang over a guitar-driven arrangement. It closes with a short interpolation of Queen's anthemic We Will Rock You. Press play below.

Previously, the 77-year-old released the original song Bygones with Judas Priest's Rob Halford ,Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx and guitarist John 5, a new version of Heart's Magic Man with the band's own Ann Wilson, and the record's lead single, World On Fire.

Other names on the album's tracklist include Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty, P!nk, Brandi Carlile, Cher, Sting, Miley Cyrus, Debbie Harry and Richie Sambora. Head here for the full tracklist and cover art.
