Cat Power Announces Live LP 'Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert'

Cat Power has announced details of a live Bob Dylan covers album.
'Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert' will arrive on November 10. It captures last year's performance at the London venue, which saw her recreate song-for-song the legendary artist's infamous May 1966 concert at the Manchester Free Trade Hall, which was known as the "Royal Albert Hall Concert" due to a mislabelled bootleg.
Copying the same format as the landmark gig, Chan Marshall played the first half acoustically, with the second half plugged in. As a preview, head below to stream the opening number, an acoustic version of She Belongs To Me, and an electric rendition of Ballad Of A Thin Man. Marshall said:
"More than the work of any other songwriter, Dylan’s songs have spoken to me, and inspired me since I first began hearing them at 5 years old.
"When singing She Belongs To Me in the past, sometimes I turned it into a first-person narrative – ‘I am an artist, I don’t look back.’ I really identified with it like that. But for the show at Royal Albert Hall, I, of course, sang it the way it was originally written – with the respect for the composition…and the great composer."
Marshall will take her Royal Albert Hall set to the Troubadour in Los Angeles for two nights, November 6 and November 7. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (September 15).
Meanwhile, she's currently on the road in the US, wrapping up a tour with Modest Mouse and Pixies.
