Released via ANTI- Records, Mud marks the Alabama-born artist Katie Crutchfield's first release of the year and arrives after her 2024 album 'Tigers Blood' was nominated in the Best Americana Album category at the Grammys.
Unfurling across acoustic guitars, banjo, piano and steel guitar, over which poignant lyrics are sung with a Southern twang, the country track was recorded during the sessions for 'Tigers Blood' and features MJ Lenderman on electric guitar and backing vocals.
In December, Crutchfield shared the three-song 'Apple Music Nashville Sessions' EP exclusively via Apple Music. It features stripped back versions of 'Tigers Blood' tracks Right Back To It featuring Lenderman, and Burns Out At Midnight, plus a cover of Lucinda Williams' classic Abandoned, again with Lenderman.
Prior to that, she released the single Much Ado About Nothing in October, her first new music since the release of 'Tigers Blood'.
It was recently announced that Waxahatchee will tour North America with Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and more on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour between September 5 and 19. Head here for more details. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (February 7).
She'll join Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats in Los Angeles this month, play a show she curated at Willie Nelson's Luck Ranch on March 14, featuring Lucinda Williams and her band, and support Wilco in April and May, before UK shows in June and US dates with Lord Huron in July.
