Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, and The Alchemist have announced a collaborative album.
The Brooklyn rapper and prolific producer will host a livestream performance of 'Forensics' on Bandcamp at 9pm CET on Friday (February 7), having premiered new material from the project at Le Trianon in Paris in January during Paris Fashion Week.
It will cost $9.99 and be available for replay to viewers for 48 hours after the event. Bandcamp users will also have the opportunity to purchase a range of album-related merchandise. Head here for more information.
Like previous projects, the project will not be released through traditional channels, however it's expected to be available for audio download through Bandcamp towards the end of the first quarter of the year, followed by a vinyl release. Head below to view the album's accompanying artwork, entitled The Weight of An Ant, created by Spanish-Moroccan artist Anuar Khalifi.
Bey debuted his 'Money Christmas' live EP during a Bandcamp livestream back in December. The release marked his first solo material in five years, following his 2019 - 2020 Negus "listening installation" at the Brooklyn Museum. It followed the physical release of Bey and Talib Kweli's Black Star Madlib-produced 2022 album 'No Fear of Time' in November.
